What Are Venmo’s $10 Rewards?
Venmo likes to reward its users handsomely, whether they’re long-time users, inactive accounts, or newcomers.
This $10 is typically a $10 transfer from Venmo directly into your balance categorized as a reward.
Venmo started giving out these $10 rewards in June 2021. Since then, Venmo has rolled out five offers similar to the June one, but with differing eligibility criteria and a number of recipients.
For example, an offer from June 2 to June 23, 2021, was open for new users who signed up through a unique referral link posted on Venmo’s landing page and social media pages and was limited to 200,000 winners.
In contrast, an offer ended on August 31, 2021, which offered users $10 in cryptocurrency if they bought $10 or more of said currency during that period. Moreover, that offer was limited to 15,000 winners before it expired.
There are more examples of these offers, but they’re all expired now except for one, which we’ll talk about soon.

Who Is Eligible for These Rewards?
Although these rewards have some different eligibility criteria, there are always two requirements that don’t change, which are:
- Residency: You must be a resident of the 50 States or the District of Columbia.
- Adulthood: You must be at least 18 years old.
The rest of the requirements aren’t similar across all offers. However, they usually have something to do with maintaining a good standing on your existing Venmo account or creating a new one entirely.
Here’s an idea of some of the malleable requirements:
- Venmo Account: Some rewards require you to sign up for a new Venmo account and validate it, while others need you to have an existing Venmo account and maintain a good standing on it during the offer period.
- Invitation: Venmo often offers these opportunities to select users, which the company determines. If Venmo chooses you, you’ll receive an email or another form of notification from an official Venmo address. Otherwise, the invitation may be a social media banner post or a referral link.
These are the eligibility criteria for the last six $10 offers that Venmo made. We have no way of knowing if they’ll change for future offers, so stay posted for further notice.
And lastly, although it isn’t exactly a criterion, these rewards work on a “first come, first serve” basis since there’s a limited number of prizes. For example, some offers had a cap as low as 15,000, while others reached 200,000. So again, be on the lookout for individual offers.
Current Offer: Sign Up and Pay
As of the time of this article, there’s an active $10 reward from Venmo for new users. This offer expires on March 31, 2022.
You have to make a new account before the offer period is over to get the reward. Also, you should have a promo code ready since you’ll be prompted to enter it while signing up.
You can find this promo code through social media, as Venmo sometimes posts it. Alternatively, you could see it on a paid banner or hear it in a Venmo podcast, so keep your eyes (and ears) sharp.
Once you have the promo code, follow these steps to receive your $10 reward:
- First, create a new Venmo valid account through the app.
- Add and verify your mobile number.
- Enter the promo code when prompted. If you skip this step, you won’t receive your reward.
- Make a payment of at least $5 before the offer is up.
- A bank account or a card must fund this payment.
- Business profile payments aren’t eligible.
You should receive your reward within 24 hours of doing everything. If not, be patient since it can take up to two weeks. Also, make sure your account has a good standing with Venmo throughout this period, and don’t try to do anything that Venmo could deem negative.
As for the cap, this offer is available to 200,000 recipients. So if you’re not early enough, you might miss it.
How Can I Tell if the Offer Is Legit?
A legitimate offer will be available on Venmo’s help center with more details about eligibility and the offer period. Moreover, if you spot the offer on social media, ensure the source is a verified Venmo account.
Venmo’s official Twitter accounts are @Venmo and @VenmoSupport. They’re also @Venmo on Instagram and Facebook.
As for emails, make sure the sender’s email address is an official Venmo address. These will end with @venmo.com or @email.venmo.com. Anything else is a scam.
Review & Skepticism
In 2021, Venmo started emailing thousands of users, especially inactive and new users, with a heartfelt message and a catchy promise: a free $10 reward.
And although this offer was limited to a small portion of Venmo users, it gathered a lot of attention because of its unexpected generosity.
However, on the other end of the spectrum, the offer also garnered a lot of questions about its legitimacy.
