Is Venmo a Widely Accepted Payment Method?

More and more businesses are adopting Venmo as a means of accepting payment for their products. To demonstrate, well-known brands accept Venmo, such as UberEats, Lululemon, Forever 21, Abercrombie and Fitch, GrubHub, Foot Locker, and, of course, Sephora.

To be honest, it isn’t hard to see what makes Venmo so attractive to these businesses. The company has a user base numbering 83 million strong. Also, the backbone of Venmo transactions is the touch-free QR code, which has offered a safe way to pay since the global pandemic began in 2020.

Businesses interested in receiving Venmo QR codes are encouraged by Venmo to contact their Point of Sale (POS) provider. If the company has an app on the Android or App store, they can also integrate it with Venmo to receive payments through the app. As such, businesses can meet their customers where they’re most comfortable paying.

Ways to Pay Using Venmo On Sephora

You can pay for products using Venmo in one of three ways:

1. QR Code

You get a QR code automatically when you open a Venmo account. To use it, make sure you are using the latest version of the Venmo app. Then:

  • Tap the “Scan” button, which you’ll find at the bottom of the app’s home screen
  • Follow the on-screen prompts

The merchant you’re purchasing from may present you with a QR code, in which case scan it to start the transaction. Then, to complete the transaction, confirm the purchase in the Venmo app.

Alternatively, the merchant may need to scan your QR code. If so, tap ‘Show to Pay” to provide your code.

2. Venmo Debit Card

You can apply for a Venmo Debit Card with a Venmo account. Venmo Debit Cards are powered by Mastercard and, as such, are accepted wherever Mastercard is used in the United States.

Also, they’re so easy to use, as they can automatically access the funds in your Venmo balance. In other words, there are no extra steps! Even better, if your Venmo wallet isn’t enough to pay for your Sephora haul, you can quickly recharge it from your bank account. Turning on reloads also makes that much easier.

3. App

Venmo lets businesses integrate their apps with the company’s payments architecture, making it easier for such companies to receive payments from their customers.

How to Pay For Sephora Products Using Venmo

As we’ve mentioned, you can pay for Sephora products using your Venmo Debit card. This applies whether you’re shopping in-store or on Sephora’s website. If you don’t have a Venmo Debit Card, you can apply for one by following the steps below:

  1. Launch the Venmo app.
  2. Go to the “Cards” tab, and select “Venmo Debit Card.”

Venmo will request the following information from you:

  • Your name
  • Your address (not office address or PO Box)
  • Your date of birth
  • Other identifying information (which are listed in the Venmo app under “Settings”> “Venmo Debit Card”)

Venmo may also request a copy of your driver’s license or another form of identification. Otherwise, it might ask for additional documentation if it needs it from you.

With that said, if you’ve verified your identity on the Venmo app, you won’t need to provide all of the above information when applying for a Venmo debit card. Instead, Venmo will ask you to reconfirm the name and address you’ve provided before.

Venmo Offers

Venmo has a program called “Venmo Offers,” which gives Venmo users 5% cash back when they buy from select businesses using a Venmo debit card. Sephora is one such business.

Moreover, you’re automatically enrolled in Venmo Offers if you have a Venmo card. You can confirm this, and check out other offers in the app’s “Offers” section.

To earn cashback when shopping at Sephora, buy a product that’s eligible for the offer. You’ll see a pending purchase in the feed of your Venmo account, which will be disbursed after Sephora has completed the charge. This may take between 1-30 days.

In some cases, you may be able to earn cashback via online purchases. Once again, check the “Offers” section of the Venmo app to learn more.

Does Sephora Accept PayPal?

No, Sephora doesn’t accept PayPal as a payment method. The most Sephora allows customers to pay for with PayPal are gift cards and eGift certificates.

Conclusion

Overall, it’s true that Sephora accepts Venmo payments via Venmo card. Venmo is widely adopted by businesses all over the United States, thanks to its touch-free QR code technology and huge user base. And Sephora is one of them.

With a Venmo Debit Card, you can easily purchase products from Sephora, whether you’re shopping online or in-store.

Better yet, on select Sephora items, you can receive 5% cashback when using the Venmo Debit Card. Once Sephora completes the transaction, it should reflect in your Venmo account within 30 days.
